The most important festivals in Alicante are the Bonfires
of Saint John (Hogueras de San Juan) and the Moors and
Christians (Moros y Cristianos).
Other celebrations include Fallas, carnivals, Easter
celebrations and the festival of the Patron Saint in
November to honour St James and the Virgin del Sufragio
in March. The Fiestas de la Carxofa are celebrated in
the old section of the town in the 3rd week of November
and are the oldest festivals in the Alicante region.
